The Boost Mobile Stadium Super Trucks will make their Aussie comeback on the streets of Surfers Paradise at the Vodafone Gold Coast 600, 25 to 27 October 2019.
The Boost Mobile Stadium Super Trucks had been banned from competing by the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport on safety grounds, a decision which devastated fans.
Stadium Super Truck organisers have chosen Tony Longhurst, owner of The Boat Works Super Yacht Shipyard to accommodate the team of 10 Super Stadium Trucks (SST) for their pre-race preparations.
In addition, The Boat Works will sponsor one of the Super Stadium Truck which will be driven by Russell Ingall. “I have raced many different types of race cars in my career, but nothing compares to the thrill of the American Stadium Super Trucks,” said Russell.
“It’s such a bonus for all the fans to be able to see these unique trucks back at the GC600 and even more exciting that the truck that I will be racing is supported by my long-term racing mate, Tony Longhurst.
“We are excited to see the return after a year out of the country, and to have them return here to the Gold Coast is fantastic,” said Tony Longhurst. “They bring such value for money and are a real crowd pleaser.
“We’re thrilled to support them and host them here at The Boat Works and we can’t wait to see the 600hp beasts fly through the air!”
Boost Mobile Super Trucks feature identically prepared high-horsepower off-road trucks delivered to drivers in race-ready condition, with race winners decided by driver skill rather than individual team engineering and budgets. They are the popular track stars at IndyCar venues, NASCAR races and other major events in the US.
Powered by a 600-hp Chevrolet LS V8 engine, the trucks weigh 1,300 kg and are built with a steel-tube frame and fiberglass body. All trucks feature a three-speed transmission, reaching speeds as high as 230 km/h.
Races feature man-made ramps set up in strategic locations throughout each course which allow the trucks to fly through the air nearly 20 feet off the ground and hundreds of feet down course.
Created by racing legend Robby Gordon, the event has been a “crowd sensation” since they first raced at the Clipsal 500 in 2015.
Boost Mobile founder Peter Adderton has been supporting the comeback mission from behind the scenes.
Russell Ingall and Paul Morris have been instrumental in securing their comeback to the Gold Coast.
At the 2019 Vodafone GC600, the Boost Mobile Stadium Super Trucks will feature in dedicated Entertainment Sessions:
Friday 25, 5:30pm – 5:50pm, Saturday 26, 12:15pm – 12:35pm and Sunday 27, 12:35pm – 12:55pm.
