For boaties passing through The Boat Works, visitors and locals, welcome news that The Galley has had an extreme makeover, just in time for summer, with a new Head Chef, refreshed décor, fantastic new menu featuring seafood, tapas and share platters, plus extended opening hours to take advantage of long summer days.
The same authentic ambience and hearty Galley welcome are on tap. Former manager, Jo Liakatos has returned, bringing with her a genuine passion for the business, decades of experience, a dedication to raising the bar in hospitality and service with a smile.
Aesthetically, The Galley has been given a makeover with a bright, fresh look – Hamptons meets Island style – still laid-back and cool, with drop down clears for all-weather entertaining.
Owner, Tony Longhurst and his team at The Boat Works built The Galley to be the hub and the heart of the yard and it has generated a following of loyal customers. It even has its own dedicated website and social media presence.
“The Galley has a unique charm and now, we can promise customers a renewed focus on personalised service and a great experience all round,” says Jo. “We have had positive feedback already, with our regulars telling us they love it!”
Whether you’re in the mood for a quick coffee, business breakfast, long lunch, drinks with friends or you’re celebrating a special occasion, The Galley is open from 6.30am to 5pm, Monday to Friday and later on weekends or for events, catering for up to 100 people.
Each Sunday between 12 and 2.30pm, there’s live music featuring local talent – the ideal place to enjoy Happy Hour with a social vibe and tranquil waterview.
The kitchen is headed up by Head Chef, Amit who has more than 10 years’ experience in 5-star hotels and restaurants in Melbourne, Sydney and Queensland. Then there’s a Barista whose flair will impress caffeine aficionados, a Pastry Chef who makes delectable home-made granola, muffins and cakes, plus a totally new menu that will please everybody.
Highlights include seafood and pasta dishes, such as the mouth-watering Soft Shell Crab Burger, Prawn Linguine pasta, Seafood Share platter and a selection of Tapas to tempt even the most discerning palate.
The Galley is totally family-friendly, with a yummy menu for the junior set, colouring in and fish feeding, which is a thrill for big kids too!
“We’re proud to say The Galley is a great venue any time of day,” says Jo. “Where else can you arrive by car, boat, jetski or kayak? We have created a fun, friendly, all-round experience. Everybody will enjoy the same Galley hospitality and food that will have you craving more!”
