GLI Strengthens Presence as Fairway Motor Yachts Makes a Triumphant Return
The Boat Works has cemented its reputation as Australia’s Boat Sales Epicentre, home to the nation’s leading boat brokers and the most extensive range of new and pre-owned vessels. Recognised as The Destination for boat maintenance, repair, refit and sales, the world-class precinct showcases dozens of international brands in power, sail, multihull and monohull categories.
Seven days a week, a vast array of vessels is displayed both on-water and in the unique out-of-water display hardstand, creating a permanent, year-round boat show. Boaters can compare models, speak with experts and organise sea trials all in one location.
Among the collective of on-site brokerage specialists is GLI (Geoff Lovett International), bringing more than 40 years of expertise in boat sales and charter. Their relocation from Marina Mirage to The Boat Works in 2024 has elevated their operations, as GLI owner Perry James explains.
“The Boat Works is now our headquarters. We moved from Marina Mirage into two premium premises in The Wharf precinct and next to The Galley Restaurant,” Perry says.
Perry credits the team’s strength and complementary skills for GLI’s continued growth.
“Everybody knows Col McPherson and Stewart Smith, whose industry knowledge is unparalleled. Stewart is our leading expert on new builds and Fairway Motor Yachts. We also have our specialists in sports and fishing boats, and Jay and Yasmin Edwards, who head our North Queensland office focused on sales and charter.”

GLI’s diverse portfolio includes commercial and surveyed charter vessels, stylish sports cruisers and sportfishers, luxury motor yachts and premium new builds from Baglietto, Selene, Deep V, Fairway and Castoldi.
Excitement is mounting for the arrival of the first Baglietto DOM 133, due in Australia in 2027.
“The DOM 133 is a stunning 40-metre superyacht designed for long-range cruising in total comfort, perfect for Australian and Pacific Cruising,” Perry says. “Once people see the craftsmanship and features of the Baglietto range, they will be amazed.”
Fairway Motor Yachts Returns Home
Adding to GLI’s impressive line-up is the proud return of Fairway Motor Yachts, a brand with deep Gold Coast roots dating back to 1982. Now represented exclusively by GLI at The Boat Works, Fairway’s homecoming marks an exciting new era.
Leading the Fairway revival is Stewart Smith, GLI Premium Brokerage Consultant and long-time Fairway expert, who has been involved with the brand since 2012. Stewart’s hands-on experience in design, production and delivery uniquely positions him to guide prospective owners.
Fairway Motor Yachts earned international acclaim for their premium craftsmanship, proven performance and economical cruising. Over two decades of local manufacturing, the iconic Fairway 36 sold more than 130 units—valued for its solid construction, round-bilge semi-displacement hull and family-friendly practicality.
Today, Fairway’s refreshed model range builds on that legacy. The classic 36 has evolved into the 37 Series in both Sedan and Flybridge configurations. The line-up now extends to the 47, 52 and flagship 58 Series, available in Sedan Bridge or Pilothouse variants.

These next-generation Fairways, built at Fairway Motor Yachts modern production facility, combine contemporary styling, updated systems, enhanced comfort and refined efficiency while retaining the brand’s signature bluewater capability and practical layouts.
Designed by esteemed naval architect Howard Apollonio, the 52 and 58 models deliver exceptional internal volume through clever layout optimisation. A key differentiator for Fairway buyers is the six-month turnaround from model selection to delivery, with greater customisation available on the larger models.
As a major point of differentiation with competitors, the factory can offer owners a six-month turnaround from selecting their Fairway model and specifying layout and features to delivery. The larger models offer greater scope for customisation.
“The response to Fairway’s return has been fantastic,” Stewart says. “We sold a Fairway 37 at the 2024 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show, and the brand recognition was incredibly strong. The 2025 Fairway 37 and 52 are available for inspection now at GLI, with the 47 arriving December.”
Fairway’s enduring appeal stems from its classic lines, meticulous craftsmanship and low-maintenance operation.

“The brand’s commitment to hand-crafted quality ensures many years of long-range adventure,” Stewart adds. “I oversee every build personally—owners are in safe hands.”
Fairway’s new home at The Boat Works further enhances its appeal.
“I’ve worked in the industry all my life and travelled the world,” Stewart says. “There’s nothing like The Boat Works. With all the brands and services on-site, it’s a boat show every day of the week.”
A Unified Vision for 2026 and Beyond
After a year of expansion, GLI enters 2026 with confidence and a commitment to each of the brands they represent.
“Every brand in our portfolio is respected globally,” Perry says. “We’re focused on steady, strategic growth—strengthening relationships with clients and industry partners. Longevity and trust have been the foundations of GLI for more than four decades.”
With GLI, Fairway Motor Yachts and an extensive collection of leading boat brands within a single precinct, The Boat Works continues to stand as Australia’s premier destination for boating excellence.
